हापुड़। विश्व जनसंख्या दिवस के अवसर पर सरस्वती इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंसेज (सिम्स) में सोमवार को जनसंख्या स्थिरीकरण, परिवार नियोजन और प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य को लेकर व्यापक जागरूकता कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। ओपीडी परिसर में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में मरीजों, उनके परिजनों, चिकित्सकों, संकाय सदस्यों और एमबीबीएस 2023 बैच के विद्यार्थियों ने बढ़-चढ़कर भाग लिया।

कार्यक्रम में इस वर्ष की वैश्विक थीम "आज और भविष्य के लिए युवाओं की आशाओं एवं आकांक्षाओं को साकार करना" के अनुरूप युवाओं को स्वस्थ, सुरक्षित और जिम्मेदार जीवन के लिए जागरूक किया गया। विशेषज्ञों ने परिवार नियोजन, उचित जन्म अंतराल, मातृ एवं शिशु स्वास्थ्य, किशोर स्वास्थ्य, पोषण, लैंगिक समानता और सरकार की परिवार कल्याण योजनाओं की जानकारी दी।

सामुदायिक चिकित्सा विभाग के प्रोफेसर एवं विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. (ब्रिगेडियर) विनीत रस्तोगी के निर्देशन में आयोजित कार्यक्रम का संचालन डॉ. वंदना कश्यप और डॉ. अरशद हुसैन ने किया। ओपीडी परिसर में स्वास्थ्य शिक्षा व्याख्यान, पोस्टर प्रदर्शनी, परामर्श सत्र और संवादात्मक चर्चाओं के माध्यम से लोगों को जागरूक किया गया।

एमबीबीएस 2023 बैच के विद्यार्थियों ने पोस्टर प्रस्तुति, व्यक्तिगत परामर्श और जनसंवाद के जरिए मरीजों एवं उनके परिजनों को जिम्मेदार अभिभावकत्व, सुरक्षित मातृत्व और प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य के महत्व से अवगत कराया। कार्यक्रम में राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य कार्यक्रमों और सरकारी योजनाओं की भी विस्तृत जानकारी दी गई।

सरस्वती ग्रुप ऑफ इंस्टीट्यूशन्स के संस्थापक एवं अध्यक्ष डॉ. जे. रामचन्द्रन ने कहा कि गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा, सुलभ स्वास्थ्य सेवाएं और जिम्मेदार प्रजनन संबंधी निर्णय ही सतत विकास की मजबूत नींव हैं। वहीं उपाध्यक्ष श्रीमती रम्या रामचन्द्रेन ने कहा कि संस्थान निवारक स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं, महिला सशक्तिकरण और सामुदायिक कल्याण के लिए लगातार कार्य कर रहा है।

कार्यक्रम डॉ. बरखा गुप्ता, डॉ. मेजर जनरल सी.एस. आहलूवालिया, ब्रिगेडियर डॉ. आर.के. सहगल, निदेशक रघुवर दत्त और महाप्रबंधक एन. वर्धराजन के मार्गदर्शन में आयोजित किया गया। प्रतिभागियों ने कार्यक्रम की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि इससे उन्हें परिवार नियोजन और सरकारी स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं के बारे में उपयोगी जानकारी मिली।

SIMS Organizes Large-Scale Health Awareness Program on World Population Day 2026
Hapur: Saraswati Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Hapur, organized a comprehensive health awareness program on the occasion of World Population Day 2026 to promote awareness about population stabilization, family planning, reproductive health, maternal and child healthcare, and responsible parenthood.

The awareness campaign, organized by the Department of Community Medicine at the hospital's OPD block, witnessed enthusiastic participation from patients, attendants, doctors, faculty members, and MBBS 2023 batch students.

Observed every year on July 11, World Population Day aims to highlight global challenges associated with population growth and emphasizes the need to ensure access to quality healthcare, education, and equal opportunities for all. This year's global theme, "Empowering Young People to Realize Their Hopes and Dreams for Today and the Future," focused on equipping young people with the knowledge and opportunities needed to lead healthy, safe, and responsible lives.

During the program, the OPD premises were transformed into an interactive public health education platform featuring awareness lectures, educational poster exhibitions, counseling sessions, and discussions on family planning, birth spacing, reproductive health, adolescent health, maternal and child healthcare, nutrition, responsible parenthood, and various government family welfare schemes.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. (Brig.) Vineet Rastogi, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, with Dr. Vandana Kashyap, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Arshad Hussain, Senior Resident, coordinating the awareness activities. The experts emphasized evidence-based health education and active community participation.

A major highlight of the program was the active involvement of MBBS 2023 batch students, who engaged with patients and their families through informative posters, one-on-one counseling, and interactive educational activities. They educated participants about family planning, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and the importance of responsible family life, reflecting SIMS' commitment to combining medical education with social responsibility and community service.

The awareness sessions stressed the importance of voluntary and informed family planning, safe motherhood, adequate birth spacing, adolescent health, gender equality, child immunization, nutrition, reproductive rights, and timely access to healthcare services. Participants were also informed about various national health programs and government initiatives related to maternal and child welfare.

On the occasion, Dr. J. Ramachandran, Founder and Chairman of Saraswati Group of Institutions, extended his greetings on World Population Day and said that quality education, accessible healthcare, and informed reproductive choices are the foundation of sustainable national development. He emphasized that empowering young people with the right knowledge and opportunities is essential for building healthy families, a stronger society, and a developed nation.

Mrs. Ramya Ramachandran, Vice Chairperson of Saraswati Group of Institutions, said the institution remains committed to preventive healthcare, women's empowerment, youth development, and community welfare. Sehgal, Senior Consultant; Mr. Raghuvar Dutt, Director; and Mr. N. Vardarajan, General Manager. Under their leadership, the institution continues to excel in medical education, quality healthcare services, and community health awareness.

Participants appreciated the initiative, stating that the program enhanced their understanding of family planning, reproductive health, maternal and child healthcare, and the effective utilization of government health services.

Faculty members emphasized that community-based health awareness programs are among the most effective ways to achieve better public health outcomes, as informed citizens are better equipped to make responsible health decisions for themselves and their families.
