हापुड़। मेरठ-हापुड़ लोकसभा क्षेत्र के सांसद अरुण गोविल के प्रतिनिधि एवं व्यापारी नेता अशोक बबली की बेटी के विवाह समारोह में हुई चोरी के मामले का पुलिस ने खुलासा करते हुए एक आरोपी को गिरफ्तार किया है। पुलिस ने उसके कब्जे से चोरी की रकम में से ₹1.80 लाख नकद, एक चाकू, ट्रॉली बैग और शादी समारोह से जुड़े कई खाली लिफाफे बरामद किए हैं।

पुलिस के अनुसार, 11 जुलाई को आयोजित विवाह समारोह के दौरान आरोपी कथित रूप से कमरे की खिड़की के रास्ते अंदर दाखिल हुआ और कन्यादान में मिले नकदी से भरा ट्रॉली बैग लेकर फरार हो गया। घटना के बाद पीड़ित पक्ष की शिकायत पर हापुड़ देहात थाने में मुकदमा दर्ज कर जांच शुरू की गई।

रविवार रात पुलिस को मुखबिर से सूचना मिली कि संदिग्ध व्यक्ति एलएन रोड से लोधीपुर जाने वाले मार्ग पर मौजूद है। सूचना के आधार पर पुलिस टीम ने घेराबंदी की। पुलिस को देखकर आरोपी ने भागने का प्रयास किया, लेकिन उसे मौके पर ही पकड़ लिया गया।

पूछताछ में आरोपी ने अपनी पहचान संजू, निवासी भीमनगर, के रूप में बताई। तलाशी के दौरान उसके पास से ₹1.80 लाख नकद, चोरी किया गया ट्रॉली बैग और 14 खाली लिफाफे बरामद हुए, जिन पर कई गणमान्य लोगों और जनप्रतिनिधियों के नाम लिखे थे।

पुलिस के मुताबिक, आरोपी ने पूछताछ में बताया कि ट्रॉली बैग में इससे अधिक रकम थी, जिसमें से वह ₹5.10 लाख खर्च कर चुका है। पुलिस मामले में आगे की कानूनी कार्रवाई कर रही है।

Man Arrested for Theft at MP Arun Govil Representative's Daughter's Wedding; ₹180,000 Cash Recovered

Hapur: Police have arrested a man in connection with a theft that took place during the wedding ceremony of the daughter of Ashok Babli, a prominent trader leader and representative of Meerut-Hapur MP Arun Govil. Officers recovered ₹180,000 in cash, a knife, the stolen trolley bag, and several empty congratulatory envelopes from his possession.

According to police, the incident occurred on July 11, when the accused allegedly entered a room through a window during the wedding function and stole a trolley bag containing cash received as wedding gifts.

Following a complaint from the victim's family, a case was registered at Hapur Dehat Police Station, and an investigation was launched.

On Sunday night, acting on a tip-off, police surrounded the suspect near the LN Road–Lodhipur route. The accused attempted to flee after spotting the police but was chased down and arrested.

During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Sanju, a resident of Bhimnagar. Police recovered ₹180,000 in cash, the stolen trolley bag, and 14 empty envelopes bearing the names of several prominent guests and public representatives.

Police said the accused admitted that the bag originally contained a larger amount of cash and claimed he had already spent ₹510,000. Further legal proceedings are underway.
