हापुड़। चिकित्सा शिक्षा को केवल पुस्तकों तक सीमित न रखकर व्यवहारिक अनुभवों से जोड़ने की दिशा में सरस्वती इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंसेज (सिम्स), अनवरपुर ने एक सराहनीय पहल की। संस्थान के सामुदायिक चिकित्सा विभाग की ओर से एमबीबीएस तृतीय वर्ष (बैच-2023) के लगभग 250 विद्यार्थियों के लिए गाजियाबाद स्थित जल शोधन संयंत्र का चार दिवसीय शैक्षणिक भ्रमण आयोजित किया गया। 30 जून से 3 जुलाई 2026 तक चले इस कार्यक्रम में विद्यार्थियों ने सुरक्षित पेयजल तैयार करने की पूरी वैज्ञानिक प्रक्रिया को न केवल देखा, बल्कि उसे जनस्वास्थ्य से जोड़कर भी समझा।

कम्पीटेंसी बेस्ड मेडिकल एजुकेशन (CBME) पाठ्यक्रम के तहत आयोजित इस भ्रमण का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों को सुरक्षित पेयजल, जल गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण, पर्यावरणीय स्वच्छता तथा जनस्वास्थ्य प्रबंधन की व्यावहारिक जानकारी देना था। विद्यार्थियों को विभिन्न बैचों में जल शोधन संयंत्र का भ्रमण कराया गया, जहां विशेषज्ञों ने उन्हें कच्चे पानी के संग्रहण से लेकर उपभोक्ताओं तक शुद्ध पेयजल पहुंचाने की संपूर्ण प्रक्रिया का विस्तृत प्रदर्शन किया।

भ्रमण के दौरान छात्रों ने एरेशन, कोएगुलेशन, फ्लोकुलेशन, अवसादन (सेडिमेंटेशन), निस्पंदन (फिल्ट्रेशन), क्लोरीनीकरण, प्रयोगशाला में जल गुणवत्ता परीक्षण, जल भंडारण तथा वितरण प्रणाली को करीब से देखा। तकनीकी विशेषज्ञों ने बताया कि आधुनिक वैज्ञानिक तकनीकों और नियमित गुणवत्ता परीक्षण के माध्यम से पेयजल को निर्धारित मानकों के अनुरूप सुरक्षित बनाए रखा जाता है, जिससे जलजनित रोगों की रोकथाम में महत्वपूर्ण मदद मिलती है।

विद्यार्थियों ने इस दौरान यह भी जाना कि स्वच्छ एवं सुरक्षित पेयजल किसी भी समाज के बेहतर स्वास्थ्य की आधारशिला है। जल गुणवत्ता की निगरानी, पर्यावरणीय स्वच्छता, सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य अभियंत्रण और जलजनित बीमारियों की रोकथाम जैसे विषयों को उन्होंने व्यवहारिक रूप से समझा। छात्रों ने इसे अपने चिकित्सा प्रशिक्षण का बेहद महत्वपूर्ण अनुभव बताया।

सामुदायिक चिकित्सा विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. (ब्रिगेडियर) विनीत रस्तोगी ने कहा कि एक कुशल चिकित्सक बनने के लिए केवल रोगों का उपचार जानना पर्याप्त नहीं है, बल्कि रोगों की रोकथाम, सुरक्षित पेयजल, स्वच्छ पर्यावरण और जनस्वास्थ्य व्यवस्था की गहरी समझ भी उतनी ही आवश्यक है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस तरह के शैक्षणिक भ्रमण विद्यार्थियों में विश्लेषणात्मक सोच, व्यवहारिक ज्ञान और समाज के प्रति उत्तरदायित्व की भावना विकसित करते हैं।

भ्रमण के दौरान विभाग के संकाय सदस्य, वरिष्ठ रेजिडेंट और स्नातकोत्तर रेजिडेंट भी विद्यार्थियों के साथ मौजूद रहे। इनमें डॉ. विनय कुमार, डॉ. कोनिका गुप्ता, डॉ. शुभम कुमार शर्मा, डॉ. सिनीश टी.वी., डॉ. अरशद हुसैन, डॉ. विकार अहमद, डॉ. पल्लवी, डॉ. धर्मेन्द्र सिंह, डॉ. सानोजा श्रिया और डॉ. ललित दीक्षित शामिल रहे। सभी ने विद्यार्थियों का मार्गदर्शन करते हुए भ्रमण को ज्ञानवर्धक और उपयोगी बनाया।

कार्यक्रम के समापन पर डॉ. (ब्रिगेडियर) विनीत रस्तोगी ने संस्थान के चेयरमैन डॉ. जे. रामचन्द्रन एवं वाइस चेयरपर्सन रम्या रामचन्द्रन की ओर से जल शोधन संयंत्र के जूनियर इंजीनियर तनवीर मिर्ज़ा, इमैनुअल राणा तथा संयंत्र के अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों को स्मृति चिन्ह भेंट कर उनके सहयोग और तकनीकी मार्गदर्शन के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया।

सामुदायिक चिकित्सा विभाग ने कार्यक्रम के सफल आयोजन में सहयोग देने वाले सभी संकाय सदस्यों, वरिष्ठ रेजिडेंट, स्नातकोत्तर विद्यार्थियों, ट्यूटर्स और सहयोगी कर्मचारियों की सराहना की। संस्थान प्रबंधन ने कहा कि भविष्य में भी विद्यार्थियों को व्यवहारिक एवं अनुभवात्मक शिक्षा प्रदान करने के लिए इस प्रकार के शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाते रहेंगे, ताकि वे जनस्वास्थ्य की वास्तविक चुनौतियों को समझते हुए समाज के प्रति संवेदनशील, जिम्मेदार और दक्ष चिकित्सक बन सकें।

SIMS MBBS Students Visit Ghaziabad Water Treatment Plant, Gain Practical Insights into Safe Drinking Water and Public Health

Hapur: In a significant step toward strengthening practical medical education, the Department of Community Medicine at Saraswathi Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Anwarpur, Hapur, organized a four-day educational visit to the Ghaziabad Water Treatment Plant for third-year MBBS students (Batch 2023). The visit, conducted from June 30 to July 3, 2026, enabled nearly 250 students to gain first-hand knowledge of safe drinking water treatment, quality control, and public health management.

The educational tour was organized under the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum to bridge classroom learning with real-world public health practices. Students participated in different batches and observed every stage of the water purification process, learning how scientific techniques ensure the supply of safe drinking water to millions of people.

During the visit, technical experts explained the complete treatment process, beginning with the collection of raw water and continuing through aeration, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, chlorination, laboratory water quality testing, storage, and final distribution to consumers. Students were also informed about the importance of continuous monitoring and regular quality testing to maintain drinking water standards and prevent contamination.

The tour provided valuable exposure to key public health concepts, including water-borne disease prevention, environmental sanitation, public health engineering, water quality surveillance, and community access to safe drinking water. Students described the visit as an excellent opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical field experience.

The programme was led by Dr. (Brigadier) Vineet Rastogi, Head of the Department of Community Medicine. Addressing the students, he emphasized that becoming a competent physician requires more than treating diseases it also demands a strong understanding of disease prevention, environmental hygiene, safe drinking water, and public health systems. He noted that such educational visits help develop analytical thinking, practical skills, and a sense of social responsibility among future doctors.

Faculty members, senior residents, and postgraduate residents accompanied the students throughout the visit. The academic team included Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Konika Gupta, Dr. Shubham Kumar Sharma, Dr. Sinish T.V., Dr. Arshad Hussain, Dr. Vikar Ahmed, Dr. Pallavi, Dr. Dharmendra Singh, Dr. Sanoja Shriya, and Dr. Lalit Dixit, who guided the students and made the programme highly informative and interactive.

At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. (Brigadier) Vineet Rastogi, on behalf of Chairman Dr. J. Ramachandran and Vice Chairperson Ramya Ramachandran, presented mementoes to Junior Engineer Tanveer Mirza, Emmanuel Rana, and the officials and staff of the Water Treatment Plant in appreciation of their technical guidance, hospitality, and valuable contribution to the students' learning experience.

The Department of Community Medicine also acknowledged the efforts of all faculty members, senior residents, postgraduate students, tutors, and supporting staff who contributed to the successful organization of the programme.

The institute stated that such experiential learning initiatives will continue in the future to ensure that medical students receive quality education combined with practical exposure to public health systems, enabling them to become skilled, responsible, and socially committed healthcare professionals.
