हापुड़ के गढ़ रोड पर जलभराव की लगातार बनी हुई समस्या को देखते हुए सड़क का स्तर बढ़ाने की तैयारी शुरू कर दी गई है। प्रस्तावित योजना के तहत लगभग 600 मीटर लंबे हिस्से को करीब 35 सेंटीमीटर ऊंचा किया जाएगा, जिस पर करीब चार करोड़ रुपये खर्च होने का अनुमान है। इस संबंध में हाल ही में हापुड़-पिलखुवा विकास प्राधिकरण (एचपीडीए) और लोक निर्माण विभाग (पीडब्ल्यूडी) के अधिकारियों के बीच बैठक भी हो चुकी है।

इससे पहले गढ़ रोड पर करीब आठ करोड़ रुपये की लागत से नाले का निर्माण कराया गया था। हालांकि, स्थानीय लोगों और व्यापारियों का कहना है कि इसके बावजूद बारिश के दौरान जलनिकासी की समस्या दूर नहीं हुई। उनका आरोप है कि नए नाले की चौड़ाई और गहराई पहले की तुलना में कम रखी गई, जबकि सड़क की ओर बनी दीवार अधिक ऊंची होने से बारिश का पानी आसानी से नाले तक नहीं पहुंच पा रहा है।

हाल की बारिश के दौरान फ्लाईओवर से गढ़ रोड की ओर जाने वाले हिस्से में कई घंटों तक पानी जमा रहा, जिससे रोजाना गुजरने वाले हजारों वाहन चालकों और राहगीरों को परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ा।

लगातार मिल रही शिकायतों के बाद अब सड़क को ऊंचा करने का विकल्प चुना गया है। हालांकि, इस फैसले को लेकर भी सवाल उठ रहे हैं क्योंकि नाला निर्माण की गुणवत्ता और संभावित लापरवाही की जांच या जिम्मेदारी तय किए बिना नई परियोजना शुरू करने की तैयारी की जा रही है।

विभागीय अधिकारियों के अनुसार, यदि सड़क निर्माण का कार्य लोक निर्माण विभाग कराता है तो शासन से मंजूरी मिलने में समय लग सकता है। ऐसे में इस परियोजना को एचपीडीए के माध्यम से ही पूरा कराने की योजना बनाई जा रही है।

गढ़ रोड से जुड़े न्यू भीमनगर, भीमनगर, सुभाष नगर, साकेत कॉलोनी, सर्वोदय कॉलोनी, गिरधारी नगर और प्रहलाद नगर सहित कई क्षेत्रों के निवासी लंबे समय से जलभराव की समस्या से जूझ रहे हैं और स्थायी समाधान की मांग कर रहे हैं।

Hapur: Road Elevation Plan Proposed to Address Waterlogging on Garh Road

Authorities in Hapur are preparing a new project to tackle the persistent waterlogging problem on Garh Road. Under the proposed plan, around 600 meters of the roadway will be raised by nearly 35 centimeters at an estimated cost of ₹4 crore. A coordination meeting between the Hapur-Pilkhuwa Development Authority (HPDA) and the Public Works Department (PWD) has already been held regarding the proposal.

Earlier, a drainage system costing approximately ₹8 crore was constructed along the road. However, local residents and shopkeepers claim that the project has failed to resolve the drainage issue. They allege that the newly built drain is narrower and shallower than the previous one, while the wall facing the road has been raised, preventing rainwater from flowing efficiently into the drain.

During recent rainfall, water remained accumulated on the stretch connecting the flyover to Garh Road for several hours, causing major inconvenience to thousands of daily commuters and pedestrians.

Following repeated complaints from the public, officials have decided to improve the situation by raising the road level. At the same time, questions are being raised over why a fresh project is being planned instead of first investigating the quality of the earlier drainage work and fixing accountability.

Officials said that if the PWD undertakes the construction, administrative approval from the state government could delay the project. Therefore, the work is likely to be executed by the HPDA.

Residents of New Bhim Nagar, Bhim Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Saket Colony, Sarvodaya Colony, Girdhari Nagar, Prahlad Nagar, and nearby localities continue to face waterlogging issues and are demanding a long-term solution.
